Guidelines for urgent situations involving participant safety and well-being during the program.

If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911 first.

What Is Considered an Emergency



  • Serious accident or injury requiring medical attention

  • Hospitalization or medical emergency

  • Threats to personal safety or physical harm

  • Unsafe or uninhabitable housing conditions

  • Severe mental health crisis

  • Detention or serious legal incident

Urgent Program, Workplace, or Visa-Related Issues (Non Emergency)



  • Serious issues at the workplace affecting your ability to continue the program

  • Conflict with supervisors or host organizations that cannot be resolved internally

  • Program-related issues impacting legal or program status

  • Issues affecting your J-1 visa or SEVIS compliance

These situations are not immediate emergencies but may affect your program participation, legal status, or well-being.

Situations That Are NOT Emergencies



The following situations should be directed to regular student support and do not require emergency assistance.

  • General questions about work schedules

  • Minor workplace misunderstandings

  • Housing preferences (non-safety related)

  • Routine administrative inquiries
